Educational Research
From Within Outward
“Auroville will be a site of material and spiritual researches for a living embodiment of an actual human unity.”
—The Mother
Material and Spiritual Researches
Research at SAIIER takes place in classrooms and farms, in workshops and dialogues, in gardens, stories, and silence. It begins with questions asked sincerely, and an aspiration to grow in consciousness.
As part of Auroville’s larger experiment, SAIIER supports research that is evolution-centric, integrally grounded, and lived in context. It does not separate mind from experience. Instead, it invites reflection-in-action and action-in-reflection—honouring the whole being in the process of becoming.
Educators here are researchers. So are farmers, artists, youth, and elders. The work is diverse: from teacher education and curriculum development to books for children, philosophical inquiry, and rethinking the very aims of learning. What unites it is not a discipline, but a shared commitment to truth-seeking as a way of life.

Research in a Living Laboratory
Auroville as Field, Context, and Mirror
SAIIER encourages research that emerges from the lived experience of Auroville—a space shaped by its Charter, its contradictions, and its ongoing aspiration. This includes inquiries into education policy, social dynamics, and inner change.

Publications
Books Born of Practice and Inner Work
SAIIER has published works that remain foundational for integral educators—The Aim of Life, The Good Teacher and the Good Pupil, and Mystery and Excellence of the Human Body, among others. Research also flows into children’s books, learning tools, and reflective journals.

Events & Dialogues
Holding Space for Collective Inquiry
SAIIER convenes workshops, symposiums, and learning circles on education, consciousness, and culture. Initiatives like the Integral Education Practitioners Gathering (IEPG) bring together educators, researchers, and seekers across generations.

SAIIER Research Desk
A Hub for Guidance, Documentation, and Support
The Research Desk supports proposals, documentation, field-based studies, and visiting researchers. It acts as a simple point of entry into SAIIER’s ongoing inquiries, providing orientation and review for serious collaborators.
