The living network
The Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research, SAIIER works through a diverse range of schools, centres, research initiatives and programmes across Auroville and its bioregion. Each has its own character, field of work and way of working, while sharing a common foundation in the educational vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
Together, these units form a living field of experimentation in education — extending from schools and physical education to the arts, continuing education and research.
The aspiration
and it’s multiduninous forms
SAIIER’s work is grounded in an understanding of the human being as more than the development of separate faculties. The body, the life and the mind are instruments of a deeper centre within us — the psychic being — whose aspiration can give direction, unity and meaning to their development.
In Auroville, this aspiration is at the heart of our educational work: to discover and bring forward what is deepest and truest in the individual, and to organise the instrumental nature around it.
Deha, Prana and Jnana — the physical, vital and mental — are therefore not separate compartments, but complementary fields of development. They meet and support one another when they are oriented towards a central aspiration.
Where they meet
No unit belongs exclusively to one field. A school, an arts centre, a physical education space or a research initiative may work through several dimensions at once.
The three fields are facets of one movement: the progressive development of the human being around a deeper centre and a growing aspiration.
