Auroville and the World
“Greetings from Auroville to all men of good will. Are invited to Auroville all those who thirst for progress and aspire to a higher and truer life.”
—The Mother
Auroville in Brief
uroville is a universal township in the making for a population of up to 50,000 people from around the world.
The Dream of Auroville – an ideal township devoted to an experiment in human unity – came to the Mother as early as the 1930s. In the mid-1960s the concept was developed and put before the Govt. of India, who gave their backing and took it to the General Assembly of UNESCO. In 1966 UNESCO passed a unanimous resolution commending Auroville as a project of international importance for the future of humanity, thereby giving their full encouragement.
"Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity."

Outreach Initiatives
Learning from Auroville
SAIIER’s outreach initiatives open pathways for individuals and institutions to engage with Auroville’s educational work. These programmes are not exported models—they are shared explorations. Rooted in Integral Education, these programmes seek to be exploratory in nature, creating space for structured learning, cultural dialogue, and inner growth.
